Why We Are Miserable

Greed is probably the most fundamental problem of our human society. Controversies and temptations we face everyday are greed disguised and it is important that we are aware of this.

I want to start off by saying that the main reason why we are unhappy is because of greed. The reason for loneliness? Greed. The reason for depression? Greed. Reason for murder, theft, and fallacy? Greed. Because we are greedy we are ungrateful and this causes our lives to be miserable.

Of course we can fix the addressed problems with our efforts. Perhaps if we are lonely, we can participate in more social events. If we are suffering poverty, we can get a job and etc. But this doesn't solve the core problem of greed, and once we achieve something, we just want more.

Therefore it is important that we first tackle the problem of greed. If we are not content with what we have now, and if we are not confident that God loves us so much that He thinks of us as His wife, His friend, and His son, this could really turn out to become a viscous cycle.

Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18:
"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."

How much healthier would our physical, emotional, and spiritual lives be if we could live in such mindset? Food for thought.
